As David’s visit to Argentina draws to a close, he contemplates leaving Buenos Aires, which translates to ‘Fair Winds’, with mixed feelings. On the one hand, excited to be coming home to his beloved Cape Town, on the other, a little sad to be saying ‘adios’ once again to a city that has inspired so much of what he has created over the years at Onsite Gallery.
It is not just the incredible artifacts that he finds that inspires him, but also the friendly Argentinian people, the laid-back Latino lifestyle, and the variety of architectural compositions that each instill a sense of desiring to return again and again to what is, a truly intriguing culture.
Throughout this visit, his days have been delightfully filled with re-connecting with previous acquaintances, as well as exploring impressively-stocked warehouses for unusual items. In addition, he has visited many familiar and unfamiliar retail outlets, particularly in the character-filled older parts of BA. This is a city that, for anyone with an appreciation for beauty, is a sensory delight at every level, but especially visually.
The immense scale and antiquity that one experiences in BA, is something that has fascinated and motivated David’s personal décor style. Over the years, he has discovered many authentically unique pieces to add to the Gallery’s collection in Cape Town. These pieces have contributed to Onsite’s reputation for offering an eclectic mix of the unusual, that sit comfortably alongside more modern and contemporary designs.
The cultural style of the Argentinian way of life is so unique, that it is impossible to not feel a sense of excited anticipation about the latest pieces he will bring back. He is delighted to once again add some authentic South American style to the wide range of unique items already in the Gallery.
The items he has acquired on previous visits introduced an enchanting feel to the Gallery that is quite special and his intention is to enhance that magical experience for his visiting customers. The next container from Argentina will be filled with fabulous pieces of furniture, aged architectural artefacts and much, much more, so WATCH THIS SPACE…
