High Gothic Style – Sainte-Chapelle, Paris

The 13th Century palatine Sainte-Chapelle is all that remains of the original High Gothic-Style “Royal Palace of the Cite’ in Paris”. A spectacular architectural example of the period and a testament to the Parisienne people’s determination to preserve and protect their historical heritage.

The flamboyant 15m high stained glass windows reflect an extraordinary rainbow of light on the interior walls and floors. The building was constructed during the reign Louis IX to house what he believed to be priceless religious relics, as well as to make a powerful political statement about the prestige of France.
