Series on Fabulous Architectural Styles – Part 1

Series on Fabulous Architectural Styles – Part 1 – as Experienced by David Bell on a recent buying trip through the UK, Belgium and France.

Part 1:

Greek Revival Architecture, London

In London, David took some time to visit the impressive British Museum, built in the 1800’s, with its monumental Greek Revival architectural style. The grandeur of the 112.7m long entrance with its enormous 13.7m high classical Greek stone pillars and wide sweeping steps, was purposefully designed to give one a taste of the wondrous collection of historical objects to be found inside.

Also impressive is the unique Great Court located in the heart of the museum complex. The largest covered public square in Europe. Its spectacular modern glass and steel roof protects ancient sculptures and artworks in the forecourt, as well as the museum buildings and world-famous round Reading Room, found in the centre. A beautiful, impressive blend of ancient and modern architectural styles.
